Nepali Language Translation Services

Nepali belongs to the family of Indo-European languages. It holds official status in India, apart from being Nepal’s lingua franca, in Sikkim and the district of Darjeeling in West Bengal. In Bhutan, parts of India and Burma, Uttaranchal and Assam the language is also widely spoken. In addition to being a Nepal’s official language, the Nepali language is also one of the 23 official languages spoken in India in the states of Sikkim and Western Bengal. There are currently about 500,000 Nepalese speakers, with small numbers of speakers also living in the cities of Kolkata, Delhi, Bangalore, and Mumbai. The language is also spoken at Lhotshampa in Myanmar and Bhutan. In either of these countries, however, the Nepalese language is not official.

In Nepal, about a third of the population speaks Nepali as their mother tongue. There are about 14 million Nepalese language speakers, but there are very few Nepalese second-language speakers. The language, which is known as Gorkhali, Gurkhalis, etc. – Nepali Gorkha’s language is said to be rich in cultural history. The language is called Khasa Kura, the language of the kingdom of Khasa. Nepali was written in the Devanagari script, originating from the group of Pahari languages. It is spoken as a mixture of Tibeto-Burmese languages in neighboring countries like Burma and Bhutan. The language too, which was derived from Sanskrit, is very similar to Hindi, India’s official language. In the 12th century AD, written Nepali received his recognition, which came from the Brahmi script in the Devanagari alphabet (11th century A.D.)

This remarkable Nepalese language has its collection of literature. Sundarananda Bara wrote Adhyatma Ramayana in Nepal at the end of the 19th century and Bhanubhakta wrote the other version. A small collection in Nepali was also compiled of folk stories known as Birsikka. Many Sanskrit words have been translated which have ultimately greatly enriched the language. The Devanagari script is what Nepali is comprised of. These are the outstanding features of the Indian script transliteration system which is based mainly on Sanskrit”: Retroflex consonant subscript dots; etymological macrons for, in comparison to, long vowels sound, denoting aspirated plosives. Nasalized vowels are denoted by the tildes.  Nepal’s mother tongue is now used by the government of Nepal as a day-to-day language by about two-thirds of the population of Nepal. It is only used by courts, however. Some Nepali speakers are still living in refugee camps in eastern Nepal, and they also speak Bhutan.
